Precise Residual Hardness Measurement with Testomats and Matching Reagents
Testomats from the Heyl product range are reliable devices for automated monitoring of water hardness. To accurately measure residual hardness – the remaining concentration of calcium and magnesium ions after partial softening or full demineralization – they use specially formulated indicators and reagents. These chemicals react with hardness ions in the water, enabling consistent and reliable water quality control. Hardness is typically measured in degrees of German hardness (°dH).
Areas of Application
Residual hardness indicators and reagents are used in a wide range of fields, including:
- Water treatment systems: To monitor and verify the performance of softening and decalcifying units.
- Heating and cooling systems: To prevent corrosion and scale buildup.
- Laboratory analytics: For precise measurements in environmental, food, or pharmaceutical industries.
- Aquaristics and pool maintenance: Ensuring optimal water conditions for animals and plants.
- Industrial processes: In textile, paper, or beverage production, where specific water hardness is essential for product quality.
